Liew assures her funds to be used to repair roads, drains

Kota Kinabalu: Api Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew assured her constituents that she will be utilising her Assemblywoman's Development Fund in the next few months to fix up broken and potholed roads as well as collapsed drains in various parts of the constituency.

She gave the assurance during a site inspection of Chong Village in the vicinity of Sunny Garden along Jalan Tuaran, here, Tuesday.

"Three years ago, the residents who form the fourth generation complained to me about the deplorable condition of the road in the village when I visited them.

Being in the Opposition then, I had no development fund at my disposal. So I wrote to the relevant authorities seeking their assistance but to no avail," she told reporters after the inspection.

Liew, who is also a Deputy Chief Minister, visited the people again during the election campaign in April this year.

"I promised them that I would use my Assemblywoman's Development Fund to solve their problems if I were elected. That is why I am here today together with government officials and the contractor concerned to ensure that broken roads are repaired and collapsed drains rebuilt in the next three weeks," she said.

She was glad that Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) officials – Deputy Director-General (Operations), Noorliza Awang Alip, Saiman Angak (Road and Transport Department Engineer), Rosman Tadul (Corporate Department Officer) and Noulin Mojinun (Public Relations Department Officer) – were on hand to facilitate the process of identifying the 'trouble' spots for restoration works.

The Api Api Assemblywoman will be assisted on the ground by Community Development Officer Dr C.Y. Vun and Community Development Leader Grace Lee in identifying other areas that warrant attention before year end.

"I will continue to look into the needs of my constituents for the next five years," Liew added.
