PUTRAJAYA: Former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters here after being quizzed for about eight hours Wednesday. The questioning is said to be to assist the agency's probe into alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to a foundation.

Ahmad Zahid, who arrived at the MACC HQ at 9.20am, left the premises at 5.40pm. When swarmed by local and foreign journalists, the Umno President said: "I have to come again."

About an hour before that, his daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah was seen leaving the MACC HQ but there were no signs of his stepbrother Datuk Seri Mohamad Nasaee Ahmad Tarmizi, who was also seen entering the premises Wednesday morning.

Ahmad Zahid, in a Twitter post on Monday, had said that he would give his full cooperation to MACC regarding the probe. The MACC had also recorded a statement from him on the same matter in July.

Local and foreign journalists had camped outside the MACC HQ since 8am to cover the unfolding events.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid is required to be present at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters here again today (Thursday).

MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki, when contacted, confirmed the matter.

"He (Ahmad Zahid) has to return to give further statements at 10am tomorrow at the MACC HQ," he said.

Asked if Ahmad Zahid faces imminent arrest, Azam declined to comment further.
