Bung: Why pick me over the F-word? Get them all

Kuala Lumpur: Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has described the motion to refer him to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee for uttering offensive statements in the Dewan Rakyat as going against the decision of the Speaker of the House.

The Kinabatangan MP said this was because Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, who was in the chair during the incident, had already asked him to apologise and allowed the proceedings to continue.

"I feel very frustrated because the Pakatan Harapan government does not recognise the Speaker's decision; the government is seen to have overruled the Speaker's decision.

"The Speaker had asked me to apologise and I sincerely did so and withdrew my statement, but today there is this motion," he said at a press conference today at the Parliament lobby.

According to the Dewan Rakyat order paper today, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin was scheduled to propose a motion for Bung Moktar to be referred to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee over his outburst which was deemed to have insulted the august House.

Bung Moktar was reported to have uttered the offensive words at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) MP in the Dewan Rakyat on Aug 7.

Meanwhile, Bung Moktar urged the Dewan Rakyat Speaker to be more firm in chairing the proceedings of the House, and not allow the government or the opposition to act beyond their authority.

"It's also unfair to me because many other MPs have uttered foul words without any action taken against them," he said. – Bernama
