Labuan: A 37-year-old Sabah Flour and Feed Mills worker is feared drowned after he slipped off a jetty near his workplace, about 7am, Tuesday.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was mounted at 10am after the Labuan Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 9.45am.

Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) enforcement chief, Capt Maritime Che Adnan Md Isa, said the man, who was alone during the incident, fell off a jetty and disappeared under the water.

"As soon as we received the call, we immediately dispatched our patrol boat for the SAR, and based on the close-circuit television (CCTV), the incident took place about three nautical miles from the MMEA jetty" he said.
