Man jailed for concealing RM700

Kota Kinabalu: A 27-year-old salon assistant, currently serving sentence for other offences, was jailed 20 months by the Magistrate's Court for dishonestly concealing other person's money.Jesper Daniel, who appeared before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, informed the court that he wished to plead guilty to the charge.

He admitted to concealing Talitha Tan's RM700 in his bank account at 6.58pm on Oct 10, 2016.

The offence under Section 424 of the Penal Code provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.

Jesper, who was not represented, is currently serving jail terms on similar offence and cheating.

He was ordered to serve the sentence concurrently with his other jail terms.

Meanwhile, three men were jailed 10 months each for obstructing two policemen from discharging their duties.

Sharul Ashri Abd Sail, 31, Muhd Azwan Amir, 24, and Mohd Nazri Hassim, 24, pleaded guilty to obstructing Corporal Dolis Rantai and Corporal Sahani Daheri from performing their task at 2am on Feb 5 at Kg Lokub area in Jalan Sepanggar, Manggatal.

The offence under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, or both, on conviction.

In the same court, a 28-year-old deejay was charged with threatening to injure a man.

Jasmil Alipa pleaded not guilty to committing the offence to Peter Leong at 11am on March 5 this year at an apartment in Bundusan, Penampang.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of two years or fine or both on conviction.

The court fixed March 28 for mention and released Jasmil on a bail of RM3,000 in two sureties.
